Pantai Tengah nightlife

Most locals will tell you that the Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah area is the best place for a night of fun. Everything you need – dancing, drinking, pool tables, live music, good food and better-looking people are a dime a dozen here – and best of all, the ocean, is only a heartbeat away.

Juan Chito-D'Enigma
Located within Aseania Resort, D’Enigma is one of those places that take you by surprise. This nightspot operates till the wee hours of the morning and is usually pretty hopping. Featuring a live band, this ‘disco’ has decently-priced drinks and locals will tell you its one of the better places to hang around for a fun night out.
Opening Hours: 20:00 – 02:00

L’Osteria is a great place to get some authentic Italian cuisine but it’s also a really good place to watch the sunset in the horizon and enjoy a few drinks. Head on over here if you’ve spent the day basking in the sun or soaking in the surf; the bar is pretty sedate but its one of the friendliest places to be at along the Pantai Tengah area.
Opening Hours: 12:00 – 24:00
Address: Lot 2863, Jalan Teluk Baru, Pantai Tengah

Music Room Discotheque
Found along the Pantai Cenang-Pantai Tengah stretch, this old-school discotheque is surprisingly popular. Open till the wee hours of the morning, most of the time patrons will be belting out karaoke tunes in the individual boxes. The beverage selection does not disappoint and the bar changes its décor every month to stay hip and happening.
Opening Hours: 10:00 – 24:00
Location: Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort, Jalan Pantai Tengah

Reggae House
This bar-by-the-beach is in point of fact less reggae-oriented, as its name suggests, and more of rough-and-ready affair with live bands. Even if you’re not a Bob Marley fan, this bar is sure to impress with its relaxed atmosphere. Beer is cheap here and in the evenings you can see some of the locals partaking in beach soccer or volleyball as well as snoozing in hammocks.
Opening Hours: 11:00 – 03:00 Saturday – Thursday
Location: Jalan Pantai Tengah (opposite Holiday Villa)

Sunba Retro Bar
This is one of Langkawi’s few clubs that stays open till you see the sun rising in the distance. This mega-dance club has live music or a DJ every night of the week. Drinks are pricey; try the Sunba Sunba, but the atmosphere is very upscale and worth it. Boasting all-wooden décor, Sunba resembles Phuket and Bali’s nightlife scene with 60’s and 80’s hits as an aural backdrop. You’ll encounter a lot of single people here.
Opening Hours: 18:00 – 24:00
Location: Jalan Teluk Baru, Pantai Tenagah
Tel: 604 953 1801

Sunday Bistro & Restaurant
Featuring a menu of Chinese and Western cuisine, the posh and expansive Sunday has an attached home décor store that boasts some pretty upscale furniture at affordable prices. Reminiscent of Kuala Lumpur’s bar scene, this bistro is one of the best places along the Pantai Tengah area to sit down for a drink.
Opening Hours: 12:00 – 24:00
Location: Casik Anak Besar, Jalan Pantai Tenagh (same row as British Raj)

Sun Karma Chill Out Lounge
Sun Karma is a very posh and uber-trendy lounge. Located beside the SunSutra Restaurant, this chic club is one of the few places on Langkawi Island that boasts such posh décor. Lounge by the bar with a Midori Illusion or a Lychee Stinger and watch the hip patrons dance the night away.
Opening Hours: 18:00 – 24:00
Location: Jalan Teluk Baru, Pantai Tengah
