Laman Padi

Laman Padi Langkawi (The Rice Museum) was established since June 1999. Laman Padi Langkawi is the most comprehensive exhibition center displaying artifacts, charts, photographs as well as actual rice-planting tools.

Laman Padi Langkawi is just 10 minutes from the airport and within the vicinity of the island's popular beach resorts.

Located at Pantai Cenang, Laman Padi Langkawi showcases the history, heritage and development of the nation's rice growing industry.

At the Roof Top Garden, you can see the different sorts of rice growing in mini paddy fields. You can also enjoy the aroma of the cultivated fragrant rice with a bird's eye view of rice planting activities in padi fields from the rooftop.

You'd also have the chance to participate in padi planting activities made available throughout the season. This includes the usage of traditional padi planting methods and modern cultivation's process. Related post-harvest activities are also demonstrated.

At Laman Padi Langkawi, you would feel a mysterious quiet and peaceful atmosphere which is a contrast to beach and sea view.

After seeing all the above, you can stop by at the Laman Padi Langkawi restaurant where you can have a taste of the traditional Malay recipes and 'kuih' which use rice as the main ingredient.

Other attractions at Laman Padi Langkawi are the traditional rice village, floating rice garden, herbal garden, rice based food demonstrations, festivities and theme exhibitions. You can also find souvenirs and handicraft to bring back home.
